Bright Funky Summertime Wedding At Willowdale Estate
Dina and Alex planned a magical summer wedding at Willowdale Estate that was full of color and joy! Dina is a school art teacher, and I loved being able to incorporate bright primary colors into her floral scheme, as well as adding a touch of whimsy and asymmetrical designs.
I also love love loveeeed working with a wedding color palette that was anything but traditional! I can honestly say that Dina's bouquet and Alex's pocket square boutonniere were among my favorite designs created over the past year.
For their wedding, I chose big, globular poppies and roses in primary colors, which reminded me of being a kid, finger-painting in art class. I was obsessed with how well these flowers and colors complemented Willowdale - this was truly the perfect wedding venue for D+A.
I also incorporated teeny parakeet feathers from the couple's pet bird, Frisbee, into both the bouquet and boutonniere. I always adore adding personal touches to my couples' floral designs!
I also got to create a moon gate arch for them, which was a circular design with modern color blocking, along with abundant aisle designs leading up to the couple in Willowdale's gorgeous courtyard.
I always recommend including some type of installation at your wedding to elevate your guests' experience and set the tone and mood for your day. Everyone loves a big floral moment that leaves your guests starstruck, right?
With a floral installation, you can make this dream your reality! As I always like to say, there’s no such thing as too bold or too big when it comes to your floral installation, whether you want a breathtaking ground or gate arch, a chuppah, an arbor bursting with blooms, or a gorgeous floral structure to frame your vows!
All of these photos were taken by the talented Yaritza Colon, whom I have to mention that I absolutely adored working with and comes with a glowing recommendation from me. Check out the ultra vibey floral shots on film she photographed!
Whatever your wedding vision is, I promise we can create it together through custom florals! What’s most important to me is that we choose florals that actually reflect who you are as a couple and celebrate your love story in all its technicolor glory.
Your Guide To Planning An Unforgettable Wedding At Willowdale Estate
Willowdale Estate is a gorgeous 1902 historic Tudor Revival stone mansion located in Bradley Palmer State Park, 30 miles north of Boston. It’s a 720-acre state forest nestled along the Ipswich River, with beautifully manicured gardens, timeless fieldstone architecture, and stunning, thoughtful details everywhere you look.
Depending on the time of year you plan your wedding here, you can either have a garden wedding and have access to their stunning Garden Courtyard, or you can have your ceremony inside the estate.
The Garden Courtyard is available from May to October, and the estate is available for indoor ceremonies from November to April. The mansion combines old-class charm with modern elegance, and it feels like a fairytale storybook come to life.
An outdoor wedding here can accommodate between 140 and 240 guests, but if you’re looking for something smaller and more intimate, I would suggest planning a wedding inside the mansion, as the interior of the mansion can accommodate up to 125 guests.
This is a perfect venue to get married at any time of the year, whether you want to plan a wedding in the summer like D+A or you love the idea of a magical winter wonderland wedding, as the estate has a gorgeous glass conservatory that has everything needed for your ceremony, including picturesque views and exposed fieldstone.
A fall wedding would also be gorgeous at this venue, as you’d be surrounded by the vibrant, golden fall foliage and could embrace the natural beauty of the season.
One of the best features of this venue is that it has everything you need, so you can spend your entire day on the grounds and have an immersive experience - I promise once you set foot on the grounds here, you won’t want to leave!
They have a getting-ready area and the space to host both your ceremony and reception - you’ll have everything you need all in one place. The venue also does full-service weddings that include planning support, food, beverages, personalized hospitality, and more to help your day go off without a hitch.
