J + C’s Magical Coastal New England Fairytale Wedding
Julien and Charlotte’s coastal New England wedding was an incredible collaboration between some amazing vendors! One Bell Designs planned the day and knew I'd be a perfect fit for her clients, Julien and Charlotte, and Lindsey Michelle photographed their day so beautifully.
The venue for their wedding was on Charlotte's grandma's land on the south coast of Massachusetts, which meant we got to transform the space to truly match their wedding vision. Julien and Charlotte told me they really wanted the day to feel like living in a fairy tale, with Disney princess vibes and coastal New England colors, including green, purple, and shades of blue.
For their wedding, I chose to mix classic flowers and shapes, including hydrangeas and traditional compote centerpieces. I also got to be creative with more funky designs, like floral "clouds," which I installed above the dance floor.
This hanging floral installation was such an eye-catching centerpiece, and designing unique hanging floral installations is hands-down one of my favorite things to do for couples! One of the reasons I love hanging installations is how they immediately draw more attention and enhance your theme, serving as the statement piece that ultimately defines and shapes the space.
Remember, no two hanging floral installations ever look the same, as you could have a large, colorful hanging installation or something simpler - it all depends on your vision. For example, you could add in lights, fabrics, themed decorations, greenery, etc., to your installations - the possibilities are unlimited when it comes to design.
I really got to have fun with personal flowers for Charlotte and Julien. Charlotte wanted to feel like she was a part of nature, connected to the cycle of life. I LOVE briefs like this, so I was happy to oblige with their request.
I ended up designing a wearable floral caplet for her, along with vines crawling up her cane and a flower crown, resulting in this incredible vision of a nature goddess. For Julien, they wanted to feel like a princess on their wedding day, so I created a classic wedding bouquet with hanging silk ribbon, looking like it came straight out of a Disney movie.
I truly love working with couples that are not afraid to push back against "traditional", and Julien and Charlotte were no exception. It was a prime example that even a "coastal New England wedding vision" can result in something super personal and special for the couple.

Carnations often get a bad rap, but they are long-lasting, cost-effective, and come in literally every color, making them one of my favorite flowers to work with!
Roses
A magical fairytale-themed wedding and roses are a perfect pair. Roses are so much more than a symbol of love; they are classy, elegant, and have so many colors, sizes, and varieties you can choose from.
Ivy
Ivy or any type of greenery will help bring your fairytale theme to life. It’s beautiful for adorning seats/pews or wrapping around a floral arch.
Peonies
Peonies are often associated with romance and luxury - they are also lush and fragrant, and a beautiful touch to include in your bouquet, floral arch, boutonniere, etc.
Dahlias
Dahlias are another beloved bloom that brings warmth and charm to your celebration. They are also versatile and come in an array of colors, and add a touch of sophistication to your floral arrangements. I personally know some incredible dahlia farmers around the Boston area, so if I use dahlias for your wedding, you know they are locally grown!

Sweet pea is soft and romantic, and it looks absolutely stunning in bouquets! For me, these flowers have an ethereal quality to them and are always an eye-catching addition to your floral arrangements.
