Why You Should Have Wedding Flowers for Your Elopement/Micro Wedding

Whether you're planning a courthouse “I do,” a backyard bash, or an intimate dinner party, you can still have micro wedding or elopement flowers that feel magical and meaningful—without the pressure of a big production.

Your wedding florals are also a chance to express your unique personality and love story and to create a whole vibe for an unforgettable celebration. Remember, you don’t have to go all out on your flowers - you can choose what feels right for you. Whether that’s adding a bouquet, boutonnieres, a floral arch, or something else, your flowers can be as grand and elaborate as you like, or as simple but intentional.

Furthermore, when you work with a florist to design your microwedding / elopement flowers, you will have the opportunity to intentionally choose which blooms best reflect your one-of-a-kind style and fit within your wedding vision - here at Althea Floral Design we are all about helping you choose vibrant, wild, and whimsical florals that actually reflect who you are as a couple and celebrate your love story in all its technicolor glory.

How to Choose Your Microwedding / Elopement Flowers

Here are a few different ways to go about choosing the perfect flowers for your celebration:

Start with your color palette

Your color palette is always a great place to start when choosing which flowers to include in your day! You can also use Pinterest and social media for inspiration. We recommend considering your ceremony setting and which colors complement your surroundings.

Think about the type of floral arrangements you would like to have

Do you just want a bouquet? Boutonnières? Or do you want centerpieces, ceremony design, or outside-the-box personal florals? You get to make the rules!

Don’t forget about seasonality

Your favorite flower might not be in season when you’re planning on having your wedding, which is why it’s super important to look and see if your favorite flower is in bloom first before making a final decision, and to have some backup options in case it isn’t. Another reason seasonality is essential is that it will also influence your floral budget. Using in-season blooms will be less costly than sourcing difficult-to-source blooms.

If we work together, we will do the work of finding the best blooms for you and doing everything when it comes to your flower design. We work with local flower farms to source seasonal blooms that fit perfectly into your palette and vibe. It's part of our job as your florist to find the perfect flowers for your design.

Work with a florist who specializes in microweddings / elopements

This is a big one! We always recommend working with an expert because they will know which flowers are in season and which aren’t, and which flowers and floral arrangements work best with your microwedding/elopement.

A La Carte Microwedding / Elopement Flowers

If you know you want microwedding / elopement flowers, a great option is à la carte flowers. What are à la carte flowers? This is a service ideal for couples who don’t want to pay for full-service wedding flowers but still want personalized flowers. With à la carte flowers, you’ll order your floral pieces individually.

Here at Althea Floral Design, we offer an à la carte floral service with no minimums, and you can easily book this offering online. This is a simplified offering for couples who want stunning, expressive florals—just on a smaller scale and without the price tag of custom designs or installations. To learn more about this offering, go here!

Even though our à la carte service isn’t a full floral design service, that doesn’t mean we don’t still put a lot of intention and care into your florals. Also, it doesn’t mean that you won’t get all the items you’re looking for, as this offering can get you personal flowers, from bouquets to boutonnieres, centerpieces, and easy-to-assemble arch rentals, along with floral garlands to decorate. Think: personal flowers, statement ceremony pieces, and charming centerpieces, all available for pickup or delivery.

With this offering, we still love to see your inspiration photos, hear about your favorite flowers, and do our very best to have the wedding flowers match the other elements of the wedding, whether it's an intricate, colorful veil or DIY centerpieces.

Our à la carte service isn’t the same as just going to a flower shop and picking out a few different blooms; instead, it’s about creating a personal relationship with you and using flowers to add to your overall wedding story, even if it's just a few items. We also use seasonal, locally grown flowers when we can.
